The-365-Project.com

So as I need to do some serious updating (and meta-tagging for those dastardly search engines) I may as well write my ass of for a little while with a few new posts. And will probably continue to do so throughout this week. After that point I will probably slow down till I get to a point that I am actually comfortable with. You know, that fine balance between a blowhard and a mute? It's a thin line between the two but I think I should be able to mange navigating the treacherous terrain.

Now with the new year I figured that it would be as good a time as any to try my hand at doing a 365 project. What is a 365 project you say? Well my friend, sit right down and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip. A 365 project is one where you (the aspiring photographer) takes one photo every day for an entire year. You can start it on Halloween, your birthday, your mothers birthday, or June 12th for all it matters. The point is once that date hits, you fire that shutter every single day. And it is then your choice to share those images with the world, your dog, or no one.

I however wanted to do something a little different. Some people will use a different camera every week. Which I can attest to is quite the feat! But I went with one specific medium. That being only using NEW film produced by The Impossible Project for Polaroid integral camera's. As of writing this I am 1 day shy of being two months in. And let me tell you, it has been nothing short of the hardest, easiest, and most eye opening experience of my photographic career thus far.

What I mean by that is there are days where I have to struggle to take that picture. Others where I get it out of the way so naturally that night falls upon me and I've forgotten that I already did it! Days when I am so uninspired that I just shoot a photo of what is on my desk. Others where I go through over a pack of film because I can't shoot enough!

I highly encourage you to give it a try! And don't be dispelled by having to start on the first of the year! Start tomorrow! Here are a few of my favorite images so far.

Been a while

I made the switch over to tumblr for a while there. And like a new girlfriend everything was going great. We were discovering new things about each other. Sharing secrets, and I took a few peeks at her back end if you catch my drift. But then once the honeymoon faze was over I realized she was just the cute girl who was dull as a board. Everything about her was quick, and although I got a crap ton more followers than I ever will here. They were all empty promises of love and prosparity... Not to mention no google search engine will ever find her.

So she isn't gone for good. But I needed a place to really write some things down about my latest photography ventures. Not the image with a quick tag line that I was doing over there.

A lot has changed in the past year. I have grown immensely as a photographer and my knowledge has grown with that. Never in my life would I have assumed that I was that guy in the photo store gabbing on and on about this and that without skipping a beat. It has been a great year and I look forward to the upcoming ones... That is of course unless on December 21st 2012 the world really does end. Then it looks like my career may fall a bit short. But until then, shoot happy!
