Up up and away!

The name Pdexposures has been with me for a number of years at this point, since first pushing myself down this path I had known I didn't want to be another "Firstname Lastname Photography". And no offence to those of you who do use your name, there were many times I questioned my choice of choosing a more brand oriented title. Going so far as to purchase my first and last name (as well as nickname and last name) and fleshing out a simple website. However I am glad to have stuck with Pdexposures, especially coming into 2013.

For those who do not know, Pdexposures is a rather simple name that comes from the city I call home, Portland. But it has roots in other projects I have worked on. My very first venture into small internet websites came in the form of an online automotive magazine for the PNW import enthusiast. It was a labor of love, and the people I met in my days of ripping around town like a race car driver I still hold very close to my heart and see at least once a week. However, like many other things. People grow up, and things change. In this case I'm pretty sure we all stayed at the ripe age of 17 while the automotive scene somehow got more immature. Regardless, our online magazine held the title PDXine.com. A website which has some remnants of a carcass lying around on the internet to this day. So as a first thought, Pdexposures was not short for my initials plus exposures (I cannot begin to describe how many times I have been called "pd" online, Peter Deckert perhaps?) but rather Portland, Oregon "PDX" and "Exposures" intermixed.

So there you have probably the most fleshed out tale of the start of this brand I have ever told. And while I know it isn't the most entertaining story ever told, and probably hovering just a short ways above least entertaining story ever told. It is my story.

This all leads to the main point here, being growth. Pdexposures has long sat without a clear direction, while not just a parked domain. The website hasn't been updated since I had a job interview and quickly put up some new content (that was roughly one year ago), and other parts grow and shrink based on what social media mood I am in. However I can finally say that now, in the final months of 2012 I know where we as a community are heading.

It is an exciting place too, there will be more to do, more to read, more to see, and more to experience. Plans have been hatched, logo's have been designed, business models are ready to be presented. Pdexposures will be growing and growing fast. I anticipate we will have some long nights ahead. And with the holidays comes a general sense of hurriedness, so will I make it without pulling out my hair? I suppose that only time will tell. Until that bald moment occurs though, I thank those of you who have found what Pdexposures has done interesting thus far. You will not be dissapointed in the future!

In the meantime, why don't you check out some of these links so you can stay on top of things going on!
